Reverend James H. Stewart
Dr.
James H. Stewart is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. He
received his B.S. from the University of Georgia in 1967 and then
worked with Campus Crusade for Christ for four years.
Jim graduated from Reformed
Theological Seminary in 1972
with an M.Div degree, served as
assistant pastor of the Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, Tyler,
Texas, and then as pastor of the Perry Presbyterian Church,
Perry, Georgia. He served in Taiwan with Mission to the
World from 1979 until 1985, and in Hong Kong until 1988,
returning to RTS to earn his D.Min in Missions.
Since 1993, he has served as Director of Missions and Outreach. Under
his leadership,
First Pres has a very active Evangelism Explosion ministry within
the local community. Many of the EE students have become
active participants in the First Pres overseas missions outreach
which has reached into England, Scotland, Eastern Europe and South
America.
Professionally, he is a contributing
editor to the China Missions Handbook, served as editor
of China News and Church Report.and as chairman of the
Mississippi Valley Presbytery MTW Committee, as well
as a MTW Committee Member to the General Assembly.
Jim and his wife, Sue Ann, have
three children.
