Billy
grew up in Montgomery, Alabama attending Trinity Presbyterian
Church. Coming to Christ as a child through Christian parents,
his childhood was full of learning about the Lord Jesus, and
striving to live the Christian life. In Junior High School,
through the suggestion of a godly lady in Trinity church, Billy
began to consider the possibility of serving the Lord in full
time ministry.
Billy
received a Christian Education degree from Belhaven College and
then graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary. While
at RTS, he served as the Youth Director at St. Paul Presbyterian
Church in Jackson, spent two summers at Twin Lakes,
First Pres' summer camp, and served a two year
internship at First Pres in Yazoo City.
In 1980, he
was called by Warrior Presbytery as campus minister to the
students at the University of Alabama. In this action, Warrior
Presbytery became the first PCA Presbytery outside of the
Mississippi Presbyteries to implement the PCA's strategy for
reaching students for Christ and equipping them to serve Him.
Billy
served at UA for 22 years before coming to First Pres in 2002 as
Minister of Congregational Care. He and his wife, Marian,
have two children, Camille and Will.
