wpeD.jpg (5645 bytes)   Romans.  Written by Paul to the Christians in Rome several years before he visited them, Paul's purpose was to place before the Romans Christians a systematic statement of the gospel as he understood and proclaimed it.  Beginning with the universality of sin, Paul insists that man's justification before God rests not on the Law of Moses, but on the mercy of Christ.  Man, on account of his sinful nature, cannot fully live up to God's Law.  In the last analysis, man's standing before a holy and sovereign God depends not on what man has done, or can do for himself, but on what Christ has done for him.

Revelation.  A study in this great book written to suffering Christians in the first century.  John's profound messaged about God: that Jesus Christ (who is God!) rules and reigns and will ultimately triumph gloriously.  The book of Revelation is principally about the triumph of Jesus Christ over every force of evil arraigned against the Church.  It is the signal given in the opening verses: "Jesus Christ...the ruler of the kings of the earth: (1:5).  Jesus reigns!  That's the message of Revelation!  Dr. Derek Thomas

Apocalypse Now!The revelation of Jesus Christ.  This is God's last word to us about His Son.  He is the key that unlocks its mysteries.  What the Gospels give in spoken form, Revelation gives in pictorial form.  The book of Revelation is meant to humble us by a vision of the absolute sovereignty of God over history: past, present, and future.  There is nothing outside of God's control.  Dr. Derek Thomas.
