Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry involves areas such as Evangelism
Explosion and the International Ministry.
- Evangelism explosion (EE) is our
equipping and training ministry in personal evangelism.
The 13-week session meets both in the fall and spring, and
equips a person to share the gospel in an effective and winsome
way.
- The International Ministry is an
outreach to the international community with classes in English,
outings, parties and other needs.

and World Missions
- Mission to the World
Committee.
Our MTW Committee coordinates all international
mission activities and the annual mission conference.
Jesus commands us to go into the world and preach the gospel.
Taking the Great Commission seriously has resulted in a growing
missions program at First Presbyterian Church. Using the Faith
Promise method of giving, (not a tithe, or a budget, but asking
God what He wants us to trust Him for, and then trusting God
to provide additional money) the giving for home and world
missions is now approaching $1,000,000.
The annual Missions Conference provides a vital focus on our
need to be mission minded. Many missionaries visit sharing
their work, fanning the flame for world evangelization. The
week concludes with the Faith Promise commitment when believers
ask the Lord in faith to show them how much to give
and then promise to give as He provides. First Presbyterian
Church has sent 32 families to the mission field, and 204
missionaries are partially supported by our church.
- World Missions
First Pres provides financial support for over
204 missionary families. There are about 149 MTW
missionaries sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in 56
countries around the world. There are also 55 home ministries
under the oversight of our Mission to North America Committee
(church planters, campus ministers, interns, and others in
evangelism and discipleship ministries).
- Our Missionaries
First Presbyterian Church supports 204 missionaries who
serve on every continent. Many have indicated that
they would appreciate receiving mail, regular or electronic.
For your convenience, we are providing e-mail links to those
who have given us permission to link to them.

among many community ministries.
- Beginning Again in Christ. A prison
and aftercare ministry which places volunteers inside the
state's facilities and provides an interim home for Christian
ex-offenders.
- Bethany Christian Services. A Christian
adoption agency that services all members of the adoption
triad - the birth parents, the adoptive parents and the children,
expressing God's love and Christian compassion by protecting
and enhancing the lives of children and families.
- Child Evangelism Fellowship. A ministry
to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of
God and in the local church for Christian living.
- Friends of Alcoholics. A ministry
to take men and women who have an alcohol and/or drug problem
and show them a whole new way of life in Jesus Christ.
- Gateway Rescue Mission. An interdenominational
Christian ministry to the hungry and homeless in Mississippi.
- Jackson Youth for Christ, Inc. Communicates
the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to non-churched
young people everywhere.
- Mission Mississippi. A ministry that
encourages local churches to pursue and practice reconciliation
(right relations) across racial and denominational barriers
in order to more effectively communicate the message of Christ
(John 17:21).
- Neighborhood Christian Center. Serving
over 2,500 clients in the Jackson area who represent a cross-section
of Jackson's poor, their mission is to "Reach out to
those in need." Goals are to share the gospel of
Jesus Christ while assisting clients with their various needs,
such as counseling, food, clothing, tutoring and utility assistance,
while helping them to become independent and self-sufficient.
- New Life Ministries. The purpose
of New Life Ministries is to be ambassadors for Christ in
the inner-city of Jackson and to enable Jackson's inner-city
youth to develop spiritually, physically and emotionally so
that they will live holy, productive and pleasing lives to
God.
- Pioneer Ministries. A ministry whose
purpose is to prepare boys and girls spiritually, educationally
and emotionally to serve Christ in their communities as contributing
citizens. We further envision helping married couples to acquire
relationship skills that will produce stable homes in a fast
changing world.
- Pregnancy Choices. Offers
alternatives to abortion for women experiencing crisis
pregnancies, while declaring the good news about our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ, with an emphasis on abstinence
education and presenting adoption as a loving option.
- Salvation Army. Provides spiritual
and physical assistance to those in need. Primary recipients
of the shelter are the homeless.
- The Mustard Seed. A Christian community
providing group home living, a workplace and a ministry for
mentally challenged adults to live and share the word of God.
Mustard Seed provides a place where special people can reach
their full potential.
- Voice of Calvary. VOC's mission is
to pioneer in Christian community development and reconciliation
through the church. We seek to accomplish this through
programs which develop individuals, families and communities,
empowering them to reach their full potential spiritually,
socially and economically.
- Young Life. A mission community of
Christ-centered people committed to reaching adolescent youth
with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
