1.  Standards.  In the Presbyterian Church in America, the local congregation is governed by two classes of officers: ruling elders and deacons.
     The Book of Church Order, Chapter 24, (Election, Ordination and Installation of Ruling Elders and Deacons), published by the Office of the Stated Clerk of the Presbyterian Church in America, contains the biblical qualifications for church officers, as well as the procedures by which they are elected and installed.
